Berta, like so many other Black folks, tried tons of hair products over the years, seeking to foster the growth of healthy hair. She found numerous products touted as “miracle” solutions. The only miracle about many of them is that they did not cause our heads to go completely bald! Berta believes that the solution to anything healthy, including hair, has always been found in the hands of God, and His nature and with that understanding discovered use of the hemp plant. Because of the misperception of hemp over many decades, the general public has not been aware of the many benefits that this plant provides. With the help of her sister, Vicki, Berta began to dabble in creating products with Hemp oil and blends of essential oils, and from there, she created Berta’s Best. She soon developed Flourish, a product that moisturizes the hair and scalp and stimulates the hair follicles for healthy scalp and maximum hair growth.

Berta’s Best target market is Black and Brown people who want their beautiful hair to flourish. She has heard from customers that their hair has grown longer and thicker; their scalps have been hydrated, relieving flaking and itching; and how their hair texture simply feels nicer.

The foundation of Berta’s Best is:

Alberta Brennan (“Berta”) was born in Philadelphia, PA to parents who were both public school teachers. She is the youngest of 4 children and graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She then earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from Howard University School of Law.

Berta began her legal career clerking for one of the few Black female judges in Philadelphia and then moved to private practice and corporate work. In 2007, she officially launched her first business, Trinity Investments, LLC, where she built a multi-million dollar real estate portfolio.

Berta has been married to the love of her life for 25 years, Rev. Dr. Derick Brennan, who pastors a church in Philadelphia. The other love of her life is their son, David. For fun, Berta enjoys traveling and interior design/ home renovation.
